Here is where you can find out about the bloopers, inaccuracies and unanswered questions in Escaflowne. If you want to submit one, email me. Episode 1: When Hitomi is transported to Gaea in the pillar of light, her dufflebag suddenly appears in her hands, when she wasn't even holding it at the time. Even so, its really Yukari's dufflebag, remember? So how did Hitomi's stuff get in there? Episode 2: *dub only* The horseback rider says Zaibach is attacking. However, this is something that he shouldn't know, Zaibach isn't revealed as the attacker until the next episode. Episode 3: Dilandau seems a little pissed off since a few of his Guymelefs were damaged. Strange, Dilandau has a knack for getting them wrecked himself, as shown many times, but he's never mad at himself... Episode 4: How is Allen able to tell if Hitomi has a fever or not if he's wearing gloves? Episode 4: Dilandau says early in the episode that he knows the dragon is at the fort, however later in the episode he is surprised when Escaflowne transforms into it. From his earlier dialogue it appears that he already knew this. Episode 5: *dub only* This is one of the worst dub mistakes in the show. Folken calls Van his brother much earlier than he's supposed to, and it shows when you see absolutely no reaction from Van. Episode 5: *dub only* When Dilandau is after Van at the beginning of the episode he calls him Van, but he should not know his name until later when Folken tells him. (submitted by Harriet Denson) Episode 6: *dub only* This actually runs through all of the Dragonslayer appearances, although it first becomes noticable here. Those at Ocean must have been lazy, since the Dragonslayers tend to have different voices in each episode. Gatti was voiced by Brian Drummon in episode 4, then Saffron Henderson in episode 6, then Ellen Kennedy in episode 7, and Andrew Francais in episode 14. Its equally as messed up for all the other Dragonslayers too. Episode 8: When Van flies down to save Hitomi, he reaches out to her with his left hand. A second later, when we see him grab her, its with his right hand. Episode 9: This episode is the first in a long line of confusing bloopers surrounding Van's shirt. He takes it off and throws it aside when he rescues Hitomi in the last episode, but somehow has gotten it back in this episode. Since Van most probably could not go back to the Excavation site, how could he get it back? Yeah, this is more of a little nitpicking than a blooper, but its my guide and I can say what I want. ^_^ Episode 10/11: How is it that when Zongi assumes Plactu's form, he not only is able to have the exact same voice as Plactu, but also have all the abilities that Plactu has? These deceptants must be pretty well skilled to not only assume forms of others, but to steal things such as those that would be nearly impossible. Episode 11: When Allen takes Chid 'hostage' with Merle's nail file, he does it by putting his arms through the cell bars to grab him. However, when Allen gets out of the cell, he is still able to hold Chid hostage, despite the fact that Chid would have had the chance to escape when Allen temporarily let him go to remove his arms from between the cells. Episode 11: When Hitomi and Van go to the nearby temple, it is the middle of the night. It obviously doesn't take long to get there. However, when they return to the palace, which should be no more than 20 minutes later, it's morning! What did they waste time on? Episode 12: Hmm... They really screw up the time frame in this episode. Millerna's supposed to be 15 years old(although she looks 20+). Marlene got married 5 years ago, yet when they show the wedding, Millerna looks no more than 6 or 7 years old, when she is supposed to be 10 at the time. Episode 13: When Dilandau turns invisible at the end of the battle, he does it without activating his Stealth Cloak. Episode 14: Where does Van get the replacement for his destroyed shirt? He doesn't carry any extra clothes around with him and its not like he can go back to Fanelia to get a replacement. Episode 15: Why is it than in the last episode, when Van's wings come out they tear his shirt to shreds, but in this episode they only destroy a small part of his shirt? Episode 16: *dub only* The captain of the Levi Ship says humans were never supposed to sail in that area. But they're not sailing, they're flying. Episode 16: Time must go by at a different rate on Gaea than on Earth, as this blooper attests. Allen's father met Hitomi's grandmother when he was a kid, meaning that at most it wouldn't have been more than 20 years before the events in the series. Hitomi's mother obviously couldn't be older than 20 or so when she was transported to Gaea. Yet with 15-20 years passing on Gaea, far more have gone by on Earth, probably 40 or so considering she not only has a daughter, but a granddaughter too. Episode 24 brings up this question too, and there is a seperate blooper dealing with that. (Submitted by Gabriel) Episode 21: While laying injured under the bridge, the gray haired Naria has blond hair. Episode 22: *dub only* Dornkirk says a line about the Vione being destroyed. Actually, its Adelfos who says that line, as you should be able to tell pretty easily in the next line. Episode 23: Jajuka's nose is significantly different when he appears in or out of his Guymelef. Its longer, with more of a dog-like look when he's in it, but when he's talking to Dilandau earlier in the episode his nose is significantly smaller. Episode 24: Serena wears something in this episode that looks like a dog tag. Dog tags are used to identify people in the military. Since Dilandau was a member of the Zaibach military, its not surprising that he would have one. But then why doesn't Allen read it and realize that his sister is Dilandau? Episode 24: Other episodes touch on this too, but this episode is the one that really brings up this question; how are the times on earth and gaea related? When Hitomi returns to earth, it's the day before she went to Gaea. However, when she returns to Gaea at the end of the episode, only a day or so went by there. This is quite confusing... @_@ Episode 25: The same blooper from episode 23 involving Jajuka is in this episode. Episode 25: The Jajuka animation blooper rears its ugly head one final time. The Movie: The Escaflowne Movie's title has a mispelling, spelling 'Gaea' as 'Gaia'. |
